By GraftLog
Here's a clean, professional invoice template for UK electricians. Copy it into a document, fill in the blanks, and you're done.
What every UK invoice must include
By law, a UK invoice must have:
- "Invoice" written clearly at the top.
- A unique invoice number (sequential, e.g. INV-2026-001).
- Date of issue.
- Date the goods or services were supplied (usually the same as the invoice date for trades work).
- Your business name and address.
- Your customer's name and address.
- A description of the work or goods.
- Quantity and unit price for each item.
- Total amount due.
- VAT amount and rate (if you're VAT registered).
- Your VAT number (if registered).
If you're VAT-registered and the invoice is more than £250, you also need to show:
- The net amount (before VAT).
- The VAT amount separately.
- The gross amount (total including VAT).

Get paid faster
A clear invoice gets paid faster than a vague one. Tips:
- Show the due date clearly. Don't say "payment on receipt" — give a real date.
- State late-payment terms. "Interest charged at 8% above base rate after the due date" is legally enforceable under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act.
- Use bank transfer, not cheque. Cheques are slow and unreliable.
- Send the invoice the day you finish the job. The longer you leave it, the less likely you are to get paid promptly.
From paper to PDF
Handwritten invoices on carbon-copy pads look unprofessional and don't scale. A PDF invoice you can email:
- Looks more professional.
- Reaches the customer the same day.
- Has your business details and branding.
- Is harder to lose.
GraftLog generates professional PDF invoices like the above in one click. The PDF is branded with your business name, logo, and contact details. You can email it, WhatsApp it, or download it.
